Plays
"The Goat or Who is Sylvia?" by Edward Albee starring Bill Pullman and Mercedes Ruehl. (Broadway, opening night preview, February, 2002). Awful. Walked out with 10 minutes remaining. Pullman's voice is weak so much dialogue was missed. This was a blessing. Avoid this failure at all costs.
"Underneath the lintel" by Glen Berger starring David Chandler. (Off-Broadway (Soho), February, 2002). This one man show documents the character's claim to have found The Wandering Jew. Pleasant, attention-holding, good.
"Proof" by David Auburn. (Broadway, February 2002). Won the Tony and Pulitzer for best play of 2001. It is good, no more. Jennifer Jason Leigh started weakly as Catherine and improved but was no more than adequate. Pleasant. If this is the best Broadway has to offer, American theatre is in trouble.
